2022 16U Tier II 3A National Champions!

A huge congratulations to the 16U National Bound team and Pat Martin for their 5-1 performance at the USA Hockey 16U Tier II 3A National Tournament in Troy, Michigan bringing home the national title.  A truly amazing year for this team capped off by this crowning achievement.  Way to represent SCIR, PAHL and all of Western PA hockey!

18U Mixed Year 1 Wins in South Bend

Congratulations to our Steel City Ice Renegades 18U MY1 Team for bringing home the 18U South Bend Irish Cup Championship this past weekend. This is the team's 2nd tournament win this season, and it was done in dramatic fashion. After finishing preliminary play in 1st place with a record of 2-0-1, the team brought home the victory in a sudden death shootout in the championship game. Special congratulations goes out to goaltender Donovan DeSabetino for taking home the Team MVP Award for the tournament. Great job boys!

14U Mixed Year 2 Cap Season With Another Banner

14U Olander finished the 2021-22 tournament season as Champions in the Buffalo River Outdoor Classic Tournament Series for the 14U A BRONZE 07-08 division.  Their tournament record was 16-0-1 finishing as champions in 4 of 4 tournaments.

14U Mixed Year 2 PAHL Regular Season and Playoff Champions

Herman Olander's 14U Mixed Year 2 team beat two formidable opponents to finish the season with a record of 18-2-2 to win both the 2021-22 PAHL Season and Playoff Champion banners. The team is also 13-0-0 in tournament play with 3 championships. They will finish up the season in Buffalo with an end of season tournament.

16U National Bound Wins Mid-Am District Championship, Qualifies for Nationals

Pat Martin's 16U National Bound team won a thriller in OT capturing the Mid-Am District championship and earning a spot at Nationals.  Good luck at Nationals boys!

8U Dominates at Weekend Tournaments
March 5th and 6th, 2021, 5 SCIR ADM teams played in tournaments, and 4 teams won their championships with the 5th taking runner up.  Excellent work players!

14U Mixed Year 2 Clinches Regular Season PAHL Division

Coach Olander's team finished the season with a 3-1 win in State College to clinch first place in 14U B Division with a final record of 16-2-2.  With the #1 seed going into the PAHL Championships, they will play North Pittsburgh on Saturday in the semi final round at Baierl Ice Complex at 3:00PM.

16U AA PAHL Championship Game - SCIR v. SCIR

The 16U AA PAHL Championship game featured the SCIR 16U National Bound team against the SCIR 2006 Birth Year team.  Congratulations to both teams for representing the club so well.  Pat Martin's National Bound team came out on top going up 3-1 with a few minutes remaining then adding an empty netter to seal the championship in an extremely hard fought game.

16U Mixed Year 1 Wins in Tampa

Vaughn Kaizer's 16U Mixed Year 1 team spent the long weekend in Sunny Tampa, FL going 3-0-1 winning the championship game 6-0 against the Raleigh Raptors AA team.  Congratulations team!

16U National Bound Team wins 16U AA bracket of ATC Tournament

Pat Martin's 16U National Bound team kept up their winning ways taking the 16U AA banner at the Alpha Tournament Company's President's Day tournament at Alpha Ice Complex.

18U National Bound Wins in Hershey, PA

Congratulations to the 18U AA NB team in bringing home the 2022 Hershey Presidents Day Cup - 18U AA Championship game with a rematch & win 6-4 over the Montgomery Blue Devils. The team finished the weekend 4-1-0. Game 1 was a 4-2 win against the Howard Huskies, Game 2 was a 0-5 loss to the Montgomery Blue Devils, game 3 was a 3-2 win over the Keystone Wild, Game 4 was a 8-2 win over the New Jersey Rockets and the championship game was a 6-4 win over the Montgomery Blue Devils.

10U Hybrid Team ATC President's Day AA division

John Bieber's 10U AA team went 3-0-1 in the ATC President's Day tournament.  Philip Dunn netted the game winner with 2 minutes left to beat the Port Huron Flags 1-0 in the championship game.

14U Mixed Year 2 Wins Another

14U Team Olander traveled to Columbus OH and won the Buckeye Classic Championship the weekend of Feb 18-20, 2022.  Our Renegades went undefeated with 31GF and only 8 GA.  Team Olander is now 14-0 in Tournament play.  The team is currently in 1st place in their PAHL division and returns to Pittsburgh to concentrate on the last two PAHL games and the end of season/championship banners.

Jaydin Eisenman - Penguins Jr. Starter of the Game

Jaydin Eisenman from SCIR 12U Mixed Year 2 was recognized on February 15th against the Flyers as the Junior Starter of the Game.  Jaydin was lucky enough to have the honor on the night Sidney Crosby recorded his 500th goal in the NHL.  Congratulations Jaydin and Sidney!

14U Mixed Year 2 Wins in Cleveland

14u Mixed Year 2 won the Rock n Roll Cup in Cleveland, OH with an 8-0 victory going a perfect 5-0 for the tournament.  Congratulations boys and girls!

12U Mixed Year 1 Wins Congressional Cup

Congratulations to the 12U Mixed Year 1 team on a hard fought tournament win in Alexandria, VA.  Kayden Fairgrieve netted the game winner in the championship game with 18.7 seconds left to complete the comeback.

8U Red wins Nutcracker

Congratulations to the 8U Red - Chmiel team who went a perfect 5-0 to win the 8U Red division of the Nutcracker at RMU this weekend!

14U Mixed Year 2 Wins ATC Thanksgiving Feast Tournament - B Division

Herman Olander's 14U Mixed Year 2 team brought home the banner in the 14U B division going 4-0 in the tournament.

2009 Birth Year Wins ATC Thanksgiving Feast Tournament - 12U Upper Division

Going a perfect 4-0, the team won a thriller in the championship game 1-0 in OT on a Mia Monaco backhand.

10U Mixed Year 2 Wins ATC Thanksgiving Feast Tournament - 10U B Division

Michael Aroesty's 10U Mixed Year 2 team won all 5 games en route to a 3-0 win in the championship game. Goalie Declan Rothert had 2 shutouts.  Michael Gornick was the leading scorer.

10U Hybrid Wins ATC Thanksgiving Feast Tournament - AA Division

John Beiber's 10U Hybrid team won a challenging bracket to bring home the 10U AA banner.  Well done boys and girls.

18U National Bound Team Celebrates Cancer Awareness Month

The 18U National Bound team celebrated National Cancer Awareness Month by taping their sticks with pink tape while presenting flowers to a member of their 18UNB family who is a cancer survivor.  Well done gentlemen.

15U AA Wins The Show Cleveland Early Bird Tournament - AA Division

Bob Kozak's 15U AA team traveled to Serpentini Arena in Cleveland the first weekend in October and went 3-1 on their way to winning the The Show Cleveland Early Bird Tournament 15U AA Division.  Great work boys!

18U Mixed Year 1 Wins Big Bear's Prime Time Tournament in Laurel, MD

Congratulations to our 18U A Major Renegades for their pre-season tournament win this past weekend! The team traveled to Laurel, MD September 24-26 to participate in the Prime Time Tournament, hosted by Big Bear Tournaments. Posting a 3-0-1 record for the weekend, the Renegades outscored their opponents 20-6  to take home the championship banner! Well done boys!

16U National Bound Team Captures Silver Sticks Regional Banner

Congratulations to Pat Martin's 16U AA National Bound team.  The team traveled to West Chester, PA and brought home the coveted 16U AA Silver Sticks Regional tournament hardware.  A great way to start off a much anticipated season for Martin's team fresh off a 16U AA PAHL Playoff Championship last season.

Emmet Martin Earns Invite to Select 15 National Development Camp

Helped by his strong play for the SCIR 2005 Birth Year team in the 2020-2021 season, Emmet Martin received an invitation to attend the Select 15 National Development Camp in Amherst, NY July 13th-18th.  Congratulations on the recognition and show the nation what Renegades hockey is all about!

14U MY2 Finishes the Season With a Tournament Win

14u MY2 ended the season just as they started the season with a thrilling tournament win.  Playing in the 50th Anniversary of the Laurel Tournament, Coach John Beiber's team played with determination on Saturday and secured their place in the championship game Sunday.  With the score tied 2-2 at the end of the 3rd period, overtime began.  It wasn't long before the gloves were flying in celebration as Brady Kunselman scored the game winner with assistance from Ethan Wally and Parker Haberman.  Congratulations team, job well done by everyone this past weekend.

14U Mixed Year 1 Wins PAHL A Major Black Playoffs

The 14U Mixed Year 1 team added another banner to the rafters bringing home the 14U PAHL A Major Black Championship.  Congratulations team!

2005 Wins 16U AA PAHL Playoff Championship in OT Thriller

Coach Pat Martin's 2005 BY team pulled their goalie and scored the equalizer with 3.6 seconds left in the 3rd to send the game to OT.  The team then sealed the PAHL 16U AA Championship 1:07 in to overtime.  The 2005 BY team is a 15U team and won the championship in the highest 16U PAHL division, giving them their second PAHL championship in as many years.  Congratulations boys!

Emmet Martin Selected to the 2020 CCM 68 Boys Combine

Emmet Martin from the Renegades 2005 BY team was selected to attend the 2020 CCM 68 Boys Combine in Lisle, Illinois August, 2020.  Emmet was selected as being one of the top 68 American-born 2006 players in USA Hockey.  Congratulations to Emmet, have fun at camp and represent SCIR well!


2005 Win Districts, on way to Nationals in Kalamazoo

Coach Pat Martin led his 2005 Renegades BY team to a Mid-Am Districts Championship qualifying the team for Nationals in Kalamazoo, MI April 2nd-6th.  This success was added to a PAHL Season Champions banner as well as the PAHL Playoff Championship.
