Colton Bechtold winner number #2 of the SCIR Player of the Month award!

Colton Bechtold

Through November, Pee Wee Gold team had 8 wins, no losses, and a single tie including PAHL and Thanksgiving Tourney games. In that span of nine games, he saw 141 shots and only gave up 11 goals. We had a very strong Tourney this past weekend during which Colton posted three shutouts, include a 4-0 blanking in the championship game... from which we'll soon have another banner for the rink!

Congratulations to Colton on adding another banner to the rafters and for winning the SCIR's November player of the month.  You will be enjoying some free SCIR official merchandise in addition to the praise you will receive from family, friends and teammates!

1st Place is the best place....

VIPERS Tournament - GOLD

Peewee Gold 2 played in the Pittsburgh Vipers Thanksgiving Classic and went 4-0-1 on the weekend on their way to adding a banner. Stingy defense yielded only 6 goals in the five games, including three shutouts, while timely goal scoring ensured that even though they tied a strong Mon Valley Thunder A team in the mix, they won the 12U B Championship in a rematch against the Butler Valley Dawgs against whom they opened the tourney on Friday. In addition to strong defense and goaltending, every player on the roster scored at least one goal!

Congrats,

TK & The Mighty Mites hit the ice for the holidays...

Tyler Kennedy Hockey

There is no doubt that Tyler Kennedy (TK) has left his mark on the Pittsburgh area.  He was draft by the  Pittsburgh Penguins in 2004 and has pulled the hometown jersey on 448 times.  From 2007 to 2009 he and his team successfully made the Stanley Cup "FINALS" back to back.  In 2009 they brought Lord Stanley's cup back to Pittsburgh after an electrifying 7-game series where it rightfully belongs.

Nowadays TK can still be found working hard on the ice in Pittsburgh.  His on ice model and coaching philosophy is centered around developing good hockey habits, technical skating skill-sets, & the necessary safety proficiencies required for the next generation of youth hockey players to grow in today's fast-paced game.

TK came out to join our 2017/18 band of Ice Renegades Mighty Mites.  He drove an educational and fun practice plan for all the girls/boys.  The kids were challenged in a variety skating drills, stick handling + puck possession drills, and shot practice drills because everyone likes to scoring goals.  The kids became raving fans as the locker rooms were full of cheery kids that were chirping about their exciting hockey experience.

The Steel City Ice Renegades would like to extend a "Thank You" to Tyler Kennedy for his time and effort spent with our children and the SCIR parent members.

Happy Holidays,

Steel City Ice Renegades
